Georgia Turner has 26 years of experience in tourism, journalism, public relations, marketing and sales. She was a client of Stone & Associates for eight years before purchasing the company in 2001.

In March 2003 Georgia renamed the company the Georgia Turner Group.

Georgia was Executive Director of the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association, the tourism promotion association in the northern 16 counties of Alabama, for six years before joining Stone & Associates. She also worked for AMLA in the mid-'80s as their Marketing Representative.

Under her direction, the 400-member regional association won the Shining Example Award for a State/Regional Tourism Organization from the Southeast Tourism Society in 2000. Her peers in the State of Alabama also recognized her in the year 2000 as Tourism Professional of the Year.

She was the Director of Public Relations at the Daytona Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau from 1987-1994 where she developed and implemented the tourism public relations/marketing plan. She assisted media including planning and coordinating individual and group media tours. She wrote and distributed feature stories and news releases, developed press kits and determined photography needs. She assisted in public relations for major international events including auto and motorcycle races at the Daytona International Speedway, World Cup Soccer, Spring Break and Bike Week. Before joining the CVB, she also worked in sales for four busy oceanfront hotels in the Daytona Beach area.

She is a graduate of Auburn University's journalism program and spent the early years of her career working for both a regional newspaper and an airline business magazine.

Georgia is an associate member of the Society of American Travel Writers and hosted the SATW's Freelance Council in North Alabama in 1999. She was also instrumental in bringing the annual meetings of both the Midwest Travel Writers and the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association (SEOPA) to North Alabama in 2000.

She is currently Immediate Past Chair of the Southeast Tourism Society, having served as Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and state vice chair in past years. At AMLA, she was a board member of the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) National Council of Destination Organizations (NCDO). She also served as the President of the Volusia County chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association while in Daytona Beach.

In 2004 Georgia received the President's Cup from the Society of American Travel Writers for her service to the organization. In 2005 she received the President's Plate from SATW for planning the board's meetings in Daytona Beach and Las Vegas.
